Supreme Court to Hear Six Cases Involving Imran Khan Today

ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan will hear multiple high-profile cases on Monday involving former prime minister Imran Khan, the founder of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party.

The court has scheduled hearings in six major cases related to Khan. It will also take up one case each involving his wife, Bushra Bibi, and senior PTI leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

A three-member bench headed by Justice Muhammad Hashim Khan Kakar will hear the cases. Justice Salahuddin Panhwar and Justice Ishtiaq Ibrahim will serve as members of the bench. Chief Justice Yahya Afridi constituted the bench on February 9.

The court will hear an appeal in the Toshakhana criminal case. The appeal challenges an Islamabad High Court ruling that suspended Khan’s sentence but did not set aside his conviction.

The bench will also hear the Punjab government’s appeal against the grant of bail to Khan and Bushra Bibi.

In the cipher case, the court will take up an appeal against the acquittal of Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi.

The bench will also hear the government’s appeal against Khan’s bail in cases linked to the May 9 violence in Lahore.

In addition, the court will hear appeals filed by Khan against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in a defamation case.
