Sub-Zero Temperatures Hit Parts of Balochistan

QUETTA: Cold and dry weather prevailed across several cities of Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan on Thursday morning, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said.

The department said cold conditions continue in most districts, while northern areas are likely to face severe cold.

It forecast partly cloudy skies over northwestern districts.

According to the PMD, the minimum temperature in Quetta dropped to minus 4 degrees Celsius, while Kalat recorded 6 degrees Celsius.

Ziarat remained the coldest area, with temperatures falling to minus 5 degrees Celsius. Zhob recorded a minimum of 3 degrees.

Sibi reported a low of 7 degrees, while Turbat recorded 11 degrees Celsius.

In Nokkundi, the mercury fell to 1 degree, while Chaman recorded 2 degrees Celsius.

The PMD said coastal areas also remained cold, with Gwadar and Jiwani recording minimum temperatures of 9 degrees Celsius.

The department advised residents in colder districts to take precautions amid continued low temperatures.
