LONDON: SpaceX is planning to acquire an AI code-generation startup called Cursor in a potential deal worth $60 billion.
The startup, known for its artificial intelligence-based software coding tools, was co-founded by Pakistani-origin entrepreneur Saleh Asif along with his colleagues at Anysphere.
The company is considered one of the fast-growing AI firms, competing with major players like OpenAI and Anthropic.
According to reports, Cursor has given SpaceX the option to acquire the company later this year or alternatively collaborate for a $10 billion partnership.
The startup’s technology focuses on AI-driven code development and is already used by thousands of software developers worldwide.
Saleh Asif, a graduate of MIT, also represented Pakistan in the International Mathematical Olympiad and is now among the emerging young tech entrepreneurs in the AI industry.
