QUETTA : Residents across Balochistan are advised to bundle up as a persistent cold and dry weather pattern is forecast to grip the province over the coming days, with the potential for light snowfall in its northern reaches. According to the latest update from the Regional Meteorological Centre, most districts will experience dry, partly cloudy, and very cold conditions on Friday.
The intense cold will be particularly pronounced in the central and western regions, including Quetta, Kalat, Mastung, Noshki, and the districts of Chagai and Washuk. Meanwhile, the meteorological department has indicated a possibility of light rain or snowfall in the northern areas of Zhob, Qila Abdullah, Muslim Bagh, and Kan Mehtarzai on Friday.
This chilly trend is expected to hold through Saturday, with similar dry, cold, and partly to fully cloudy conditions prevailing across the majority of Balochistan. The prospect of precipitation continues, with Zhob, Qila Abdullah, Muslim Bagh, Khuzdar, Chagai, and Kan Mehtarzai again in line for potential light rain or snow.
The department’s report from the last 24 hours underscores the severity of the current cold wave, noting dry but frigid weather province-wide. The northern and northwestern regions endured especially severe cold during the night. Kalat recorded the lowest temperature in the province at a biting minus 2 degrees Celsius. No rainfall was reported anywhere in Balochistan during this period.
The extended forecast of dry and cold weather, interspersed with isolated winter precipitation in the north, signals a typical harsh winter period for the province, urging citizens to take necessary precautions against the cold.
