QUETTA: Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, met with Ms. Fernanda Thomaz, the Country Director of the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), on Wednesday to discuss partnerships for provincial development.

During the meeting, they held detailed talks on key issues including food security, agricultural development, and strengthening the rural economy in Balochistan.

Chief Minister Bugti praised IFAD for its valuable cooperation in fighting poverty and promoting sustainable growth in the province’s rural areas. He highlighted that climate change is severely impacting Balochistan’s agricultural sector and stressed that promoting climate-friendly farming practices is now essential.

He outlined a plan to boost agricultural production and ensure food security by introducing modern technology, climate-resistant crops, and sustainable irrigation systems. A major focus will be on skilling women and youth to strengthen the rural economy, with the provincial government pledging to take all necessary steps for this purpose.
