QUETTA: During the Independence Day, security forces in Balochistan have foiled what officials described as a “massive terror plot,” arresting a university lecturer linked with the outlawed Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
In this sense, the chain of events began on August 11, when a suicide bomber was intercepted and taken into custody in Quetta.
The interrogation led investigators to Dr. Usman Qazi, a lecturer at Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS), who was later identified as the alleged mastermind of the conspiracy.
In this regard, by August 12, security forces reported uncovering a network of 32 suicide bombers and four vehicle-borne improvised explosive devices (VBIEDs) prepared for attacks. So far, the revelations have sent shockwaves across Balochistan, with many expressing dismay that a figure from an academic institution was allegedly found at the center of such a plot.
