SHO abducted in Bannu amid rising security concerns

BANNU: The senior police officer is abducted in broad daylight in Bannu city, raising serious concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation.

In this regard, the Station House Officer (SHO) Abidullah Khan, son of Gul Khan, was taken into custody by individuals claiming affiliation with Lashkar-e-Difa al-Quds, a group that identified itself as responsible for the incident.

The abduction took place in the People Bazaar area of Bannu City, specifically in the vicinity of Mashar Daud Shah.

In this sense, the unverified statements circulating on social media attribute the operation to Lashkar-e-Difa al-Quds, with the group’s purported spokesperson, identified as Abu Ubaidah al-Pakistani, claiming responsibility.

Furthermore, the abduction highlights growing security challenges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, a province that has witnessed a series of militant attacks and kidnappings targeting both security personnel and civilians in recent months.

The resurgence of armed groups and the re-emergence of militant activity in the region have fueled public concern and prompted calls for stronger counter-terrorism measures.

Moreover, no group beyond Lashkar-e-Difa al-Quds has claimed involvement, and no ransom or specific demands have been made public.

The provincial government has yet to issue a formal response, but officials have convened an emergency meeting to assess the situation and review existing security protocols for police officers deployed in sensitive regions.
