New Delhi/Dhaka: In what Bangladesh describes as yet another example of anti-Bangladesh intentions, India has broadcast a controversial speech by former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina Wajed.
According to sources, India aired a contentious address delivered by Sheikh Hasina, who fled Bangladesh and is currently taking refuge in India.
The Bangladesh Ministry of Foreign Affairs has reacted strongly to the Indian move, stating that such actions can seriously damage bilateral relations between the two countries.
The ministry further described the broadcast as an attempt to fuel unrest and instability in the region.
Public anger in Bangladesh against Sheikh Hasina’s speech has been intense.
According to sources within the Bangladeshi Foreign Ministry, the former prime minister used hateful and inflammatory language during the address.
Sources add that Bangladesh has once again demanded the extradition of Sheikh Hasina from India.
It is worth noting that a Bangladeshi court has already sentenced the former prime minister to death in absentia.
Sheikh Hasina fled Bangladesh on 5 August 2024 via helicopter amid nationwide violent protests and the subsequent fall of her government.
Since then, relations between Bangladesh and India have remained deeply strained.
