Shaza Fatima launches PSEB’s flagship tech initiatives to empower youth

KARACHI: Federal Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja inaugurated the “Building Tomorrow: Launch of PSEB’s Tech Initiatives for Pakistan” in Karachi, unveiling six major projects in order to accelerate digital transformation and increasing Pakistan’s role in the global technology sector.

The event, hosted by the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB), indicated a vital step towards advancing digital growth, empowering young professionals, and supporting the country’s technology-driven economy.

The Minister underlined the government’s resolve to equip Pakistan’s youth with advanced skills and career opportunities in line with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of building a knowledge-based economy.

Furthermore, Shaza Fatima Khawaja announced that the government has prepared a ten-year digital roadmap with a projected revenue target of $25 billion.

She stressed that digital employment and entrepreneurship will play a direct role in strengthening Pakistan’s national economy by opening up avenues for innovation and investment.

In this regard, the six flagship initiatives launched under the Skill Tech Pakistan programme are designed to close the gap between academic learning and industry requirements.

These include providing internships and placements for graduates, conducting specialized bootcamps and training modules, promoting professional communication and soft skills, certifying small and medium-sized tech firms, establishing a facilitation hub for technology companies, and offering international exposure platforms for Pakistani startups.

Moreover, the launch event drew participation from industry leaders, technology experts, and representatives of academia, who welcomed the government’s initiatives as timely and essential for strengthening the country’s digital economy.
