Seven Civilians Injured as Mortar Shells Hit Gorcop Village in Balochistan

Turbat, Balochistan : Tensions escalated in the southern region of Balochistan as Gorcop village came under mortar fire from an unidentified direction near the Girani Kaur area, close to Dancer Bazaar.

According to security sources, the incident occurred around 4:50 PM when seven mortar rounds were fired from the south direction, at a distance of approximately 1,700 to 2,000 meters.

Out of the seven shells, five landed outside the Gorcop military post, with four directly hitting civilian areas and two impacting within the post’s premises.

The shelling resulted in injuries to seven local residents, all of whom sustained splinter wounds.

Injured civilians include:

 

Ali Jan s/o Ghulam – Head and abdominal injuries

 

Shahab s/o Dost Dill – Abdominal injury

 

Naseer Ahmad s/o Mehrab – Ankle, knee, and hand injuries

 

Barkat Ali s/o Iqbal – Abdominal injury

 

Jamal s/o Abdul Majeed – Arm injury

 

Jameel s/o Dil Murad – Back and abdominal injuries

 

Wazir Ahmad s/o Ghulam Ali – Abdominal and hand injuries

All the injured were immediately given first aid at the 54 Wing Headquarters and later moved to Turbat District Headquarters Hospital (DHQ) for further medical treatment.

The attack is under investigation, and the security forces are monitoring the situation closely amid growing concerns about cross-border threats and local insurgent activity.
