Senior TTP commander Abdul Rehman killed in Bajaur operation

BAJAUR: The senior commander of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Abdul Rehman alias Ghazi Lala, killed in Bajaur during a clash with security forces.

Abdul Rehman, who comes from Gadoon, Swabi, sustained critical injuries during an intelligence-based operation conducted in the Loe Mamund area of Bajaur. He, along with his associates, was engaged in an exchange of fire with security personnel. Despite being severely wounded, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after the encounter.

In this sense, Ghazi Lala was regarded as a key figure within the TTP and was linked to several terrorist activities in the region.

The operation in Loe Mamund is part of ongoing counterterrorism measures aimed at eliminating militant networks operating in the tribal districts bordering Afghanistan.

In this regard, Bajaur, one of the tribal districts that has witnessed a crucial militant activity over the past two decades, has been the focus of repeated security operations.

The region, due to its proximity to the Afghan border, has often been used by militant groups as a base for cross-border movements and planning of attacks.

The government and its officials have reasserted their determination to continue intelligence-based operations across the tribal districts to ensure lasting peace and stability.

They focused on the fact that efforts will remain focused on dismantling militant infrastructure and preventing the resurgence of extremist elements.
