Senators strongly condemns honour killing in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Lawmakers in the Senate, fiercely condemned a recent case of honour killing in Balochistan, in which a man and a woman were reportedly shot dead in a brutal act that has sparked national outrage.

In this sense, the condemnation came during a debate on a motion presented by Senator Dr. Zarqa Suharwardy Taimur, aimed at urging the government to formulate policy-level interventions to eliminate gender discrimination and increase women’s participation in economic activities across the country

So far, the members of the Upper House described the incident as “barbaric and inhumane,” stressing that no civilized society can allow such acts to go unpunished.

They demanded swift and transparent legal proceedings to ensure the perpetrators are held accountable.

In this sense, Senator Irfan Siddiqui expressed deep concern over the silence of the provincial administration, noting that the incident, which reportedly occurred two months ago, only surfaced after a disturbing video went viral on social media.
