ISLAMABAD: The Senator Faisal Vawda cautioned the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister to carry out his constitutional responsibilities, warning that continued “defiance” could lead to the imposition of Governor’s Rule in the province.
Vawda said he had previously warned that political posturing and confrontational tactics would have consequences. “I had said earlier that if they issued threats on November 26, they would face a strong reaction. If further unruly behaviour continues, Governor’s Rule can be imposed,” he stated.
In this regard, the senator focused on that all political stakeholders wanted the KP Chief Minister to focus on governance.
“Our effort should be that the Chief Minister performs his duties. If he cannot do so, then Governor’s Rule will not remain an option, it will become a reality,” he added.
Furthermore, Vawda expressed support for the continuation of Faisal Karim Kundi as Governor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, saying that his party had “no objection” to Kundi’s name. “We want Faisal Karim Kundi to remain the governor. If a different name is chosen, it may not be a political decision,” he said.
Vawda said such attempts would lead nowhere. “If the Chief Minister still wants a meeting with the founder, he can keep knocking on a wall, nothing will come of it. His only path is political engagement with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari,” he remarked.
In addition, Vawda noted that the Army Chief was fully in command, and a pending notification — believed to be related to defence appointments — would be issued soon. “Whether today, tomorrow, or the day after, the notification will be issued.
The Chairman of the Defence Force has no link with politics,” he added.
He urged the KP Chief Minister to focus solely on running his government, especially following recent High Court directives. “After the court order, even a slight mistake could lead to disqualification. We do not want Governor’s Rule in KP,” he said.
Vawda expressed confidence that the issue involving Sohail Afridi would be resolved after meetings with the prime minister and the president.
“Every solution lies with President Zardari,” he claimed.
He further said that the PTI founder’s sisters were respectable personalities and noted that many individuals had recorded interviews. “Those who have not faced accountability in 75 years will not face it in the next 75 years either,” he concluded.
