Senate panel pushes major boost for Balochistan’s religious tourism

Hinglaj Mata Temple Set for Upgrade as Senate Focuses on Balochistan's Heritage

ISLAMABAD: A Senate committee has directed the federal government to urgently provide basic facilities to minority religious sites in Balochistan to promote religious tourism.

The meeting, chaired by Senator Agha Shahzeb Durrani, specifically highlighted the poor condition of the globally significant Hinglaj Mata Temple, which lacks basic amenities. Senators questioned how the income from such sites was being used and demanded a detailed report.

Senator Danish Kumar raised serious concerns about the neglect of these holy places. In response, the State Minister for Religious Affairs explained that while it is a provincial matter, the federal government is ready to assist upon request.

The committee made a strong recommendation that all minority religious places in Balochistan must be equipped with essential facilities. This initiative aims to preserve cultural heritage, attract pilgrims, and generate increased income for the region.
