Security forces reject ‘scholar’s abduction’ claims, act against BLA associate

KARACHI: The recent social media claims regarding the alleged “enforced disappearance” of Abdul Ghani Baloch, a self-proclaimed MPhil scholar and political activist, are misleading and factually flawed. In addition, official and verified sources have confirmed that Abdul Ghani Baloch is under lawful custody due to his active association with the proscribed terrorist organization, Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).

On the contrary to the claims circulating on social media platforms, Abdul Ghani Baloch was not an innocent scholar but a key figure in BLA’s propaganda and recruitment network.

In this regard, it is important to mention that the BLA has been declared a terrorist organization by the government and various international bodies, including the United Nations.

The group has been involved in multiple violent attacks targeting both civilians and law enforcement personnel.

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), which has attempted to portray Baloch as an “educated youth wrongfully abducted,” continues to echo the narrative of separatist groups. Despite claiming to work for human rights and social justice, the BYC frequently aligns itself with the agenda of anti-state elements, either through vocal support or veiled narratives.

Furthermore, recent tweets, such as the one falsely asserting that Abdul Ghani Baloch was “forcibly disappeared” by security forces, are a deliberate attempt to malign the state’s counterterrorism efforts.
