Security Forces Kill 707 Terrorists in Balochistan This Year

QUETTA: Pakistan Army and other law enforcement agencies have killed at least 707 terrorists in Balochistan this year, linked to the India-backed proxy group Fitna al-Hindustan, officials said.

Hamza Shafqat, Additional Chief Secretary for Interior in Balochistan, shared the data during a press conference in Quetta on Sunday, alongside DIG CTD Iftikhar Goraya.

Shafqat said intelligence-led operations were conducted at 78,000 locations across the province. The operations claimed 202 security personnel and 280 civilian lives.

He added that three militants were arrested during an operation in Kharan.

Shafqat noted that attacks on security forces declined this year due to improved strategies, but militants increasingly targeted civilians.

He called the U.S. designation of the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) as a terrorist organisation the year’s biggest success. He said Pakistan will use Interpol to pursue militants operating from abroad.

DIG CTD Iftikhar Goraya said an SHO in Kharan was killed in October. Militants had attempted to abduct him for propaganda, but he was killed while resisting the attack.
