Security forces kill 19 India-backed Khawarij in KP operations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Army said on Wednesday that it killed 19 India-backed militants during a series of intelligence-based operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on September 9 and 10.

According to a statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), security forces launched an operation in the general area of Guluno, Mohmand district, where intense exchanges of fire broke out. Security forces killed 14 militants during the clash. They were associated with the Indian proxy- Fitna al Khawarij, carrying terrorist attacks on security forces from Afghanistan.

In a separate operation in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan, security forces killed four militants based on intelligence reports. Another militant was killed in a gun battle in Bannu, the military added.

ISPR said all of the slain militants were operating under Indian patronage and had carried out multiple terrorist attacks in the region. Troops also recovered weapons and ammunition during the operations.

The military stated that clearance and sanitization operations remain underway due to concerns about the presence of more militants in the area.
