Security forces gain control of 19 Afghan border posts amid rising tensions

ISLAMABAD: The tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, security forces have taken control of 19 Afghan border posts, raising the national flag in the Angoor Adda sector.

The operation continued into the early hours of Saturday. The action was described as “effective and assertive,” involving heavy weaponry and strategic maneuvers aimed at neutralizing cross-border threats.

Furthermore, security forces successfully gained control of 19 Afghan border checkpoints, which were allegedly being used for launching attacks into Pakistani territory.

The military advance is said to have been conducted in response to recent incidents of cross-border firing and infiltration attempts, which have strained relations between the two neighboring countries.

The Angoor Adda sector, located in South Waziristan, has long been considered a sensitive and volatile area due to its proximity to militant networks operating across the border.

Moreover, witnesses in nearby regions reported sounds of heavy shelling overnight, while military sources maintained that the operation was part of broader efforts to ensure Pakistan’s border security and territorial integrity.

In this regard, the tensions along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border have escalated in recent weeks following a series of security incidents and mutual accusations of harboring militant groups.
