BAJUR: Security forces foiled a suicide attack on a security checkpost in Bajaur district of the Khyber Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday.
As per details, the militants associated with the Fitna al Khawarij attempted a suicide attack on the Malangi post of Mamund tehsil of the district, using an explosive-laden vehicle, but the attack was unsuccessful.
Eight militants of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, known as Fitna al Khawarij were killed during the operation. Three Pakistani soldiers were reported injured.
Authorities credited strong defensive measures for minimizing casualties among security forces.
Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation against fleeing militants.
Officials said the attempt was aimed at disturbing peace in Bajur and intimidating local residents, but security forces ensured the operation was successful.
Operations will continue under the National Action Plan until the last militant is neutralized.
