Security forces foil major terror plot in Balochistan’s Gawani mountains

GAWANI: The Frontier Corps (FC) North Balochistan, backed by Special Services Group (SSG) and Special Operations Wing (SOW) commandos, thwarted a major terrorist attack planned by the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and its affiliates in the Gawani Mountain region.

In this regard, as per the credible intelligence reports, FC’s North Balochistan intelligence wing detected the presence of 20 to 30 foreign-aided hostile (FaH) terrorists hiding in the Nullahs of the Gawani range. The group was reportedly preparing to target the critical N-65 national highway, a lifeline connecting major districts in Balochistan and vital to Pakistan’s economic and security infrastructure.

In this regard, in response, six highly trained combat teams comprising SSG and SOW operatives were swiftly mobilized and deployed to intercept the threat.

Furthermore, as SSG troops successfully neutralized five terrorists during the initial contact, disrupting the enemy’s plan and causing panic among the remaining insurgents.

The area has since been sanitized by ground forces. This latest operation further highlights the continued threat posed by the BLA, a notorious separatist outfit designated as a terrorist organization both in Pakistan and internationally.

However, repeated setbacks and decisive countermeasures by Pakistan’s security forces have weakened the group’s operational capabilities. The failure of this attempted attack serves as another blow to their agenda and a reaffirmation of the state’s resolve to maintain peace and protect national assets.
