Security forces defuse IED in Tump

TUMP: Security forces foiled a potential terror plot after detecting and neutralising an improvised explosive device (IED) in Tump, Kech district of Balochistan on Tuesday.

According to security sources, the operation was launched following credible intelligence reports indicating the presence of an IED in the general area of Meerabad of Tump Teshil of Kech district.

area. Acting on the tip-off, personnel of law enforcement agencies were dispatched to verify the information and confirmed the presence of an explosive device concealed inside a cement block, weighing approximately 5–6 kilograms, between Meerabad and Sirinkan (Nihang Kaur).  The forces successfully defused the IED.

Preliminary assessments suggest that the site was being used as a staging and storage point for IEDs intended for future terrorist activities in the region. The use of a cement casing was reportedly designed to amplify the impact and lethality of the blast.

Security officials believe the foiled attempt was part of a broader terror network’s plan to destabilize the area. The timely detection of the device prevented a possible large-scale attack and highlighted the vigilance of the security apparatus operating in south Balochistan.
