Quetta – The main provisions of the Balochistan Assembly Privileges (Amendment) Bill have been revealed.
According to the draft law, the government will appoint as many security personnel as deemed necessary for the protection of a Member of the Provincial Assembly.
Under the amendment, the Speaker of the Balochistan Assembly will be provided with at least ten police or Levies personnel, while the Deputy Speaker will receive a minimum of eight.
The Leader of the Opposition will be assigned six police or Levies personnel. Similarly, ministers, advisors, and parliamentary secretaries will each be allocated six security staff.
Ordinary members of the provincial assembly will also be provided with six police or Levies personnel.
It is worth mentioning that this move has become unavoidable keeping in view that law-and-order and the security concerns in Balochistan in the past few months.
The Fitna al Hindustan militants have not only victimized the armed forces and the civilians, but government officers and the public office holders have also become a victim of the Indian-sponsored militants.
The assistant commissioner Tump Hanif Noorzai was abducted in the month of May by the militants and was recovered some four months later in September.
Similarly, the Assistant commissioner Ziarat Mohammad Afzal Baqi was abducted during the month of August and he was reportedly killed by the Fitna al Hindustan militants in the last week of September.
The DSP Mastung Rafiq Mengal was also reported as missing along with his driver on his way to join duty after attending the funeral of his mother; however, he was also recovered a couple of days later.
However, no further details were shared about the reason why he was missing.
It is worth mentioning that the security forces in Balochistan have affirmed their resolve to counter all the insurgencies carried out by the Indian-backed militants in Balochistan.
