Secretary Information praises MERC 1122 emergency services

QUETTA: Secretary Information Imran Khan and Director General Public Relations Muhammad Noor Khetran visited MERC 1122 today. DG MERC Zulfiqar Jatoi received the guests and gave them a detailed tour of the facility. Director Operations Riaz Raisani, Director Public Relations Saeed Ahmed Shahwani, and other senior officers also attended.

DG MERC briefed the delegation on the institution’s structure and operations. He informed them that 31 emergency centers now operate along 8 key highways in Balochistan. These centers provide immediate medical assistance to accident victims.

In the past six years, MERC 1122 has responded to over 72,000 road accidents. The service has treated more than 96,000 injured people on-site. DG MERC also shared that trauma centers in DHQ Hospitals Khuzdar and Zhob are now fully functional.

He further announced the upcoming launch of the Benazir Ambulance Service. This initiative will enhance emergency response and maternal healthcare across the province. All ambulances under the health department will be upgraded and integrated into the MERC 1122 system. The unified model will improve the province’s emergency medical services.

Secretary Imran Khan praised MERC 1122 for its quick and effective response to emergencies. He noted that the service has saved countless lives by providing timely aid. He commended the organization for building a reliable emergency system across Balochistan in a short period.
