Hot and Dry Weather to Persist Across Most of Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Meteorological Department has forecast hot and dry weather across most parts of the country over the next two days, with chances of rain and thunderstorms at isolated locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and northeastern Punjab.

According to the department, Tuesday will remain generally hot and dry in most regions. However, isolated areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and northeastern Punjab may experience dust storms, rain, and thunderstorms during the afternoon.

On Wednesday, hot and dry weather is expected to continue across most parts of the country, while heat intensity may increase in the plains. Isolated rain and thunderstorm activity is likely in Kashmir and adjoining hilly areas during the afternoon.

Islamabad and Punjab

Islamabad and surrounding areas are expected to remain hot on Tuesday, with partly cloudy conditions likely during the afternoon. Hot and dry weather is forecast for Wednesday.

Most districts of Punjab are also expected to experience hot and dry conditions over the next two days. On Tuesday, isolated rain and thunderstorms may occur in Vehari, Pakpattan, Okara, Lahore, Kasur, Faisalabad, and Sahiwal.

On Wednesday, rain is expected at isolated locations in Murree, Galyat, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Sargodha, Faisalabad, and Khanewal.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan

Most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will remain hot and dry. However, isolated rain and thunderstorms are expected on Tuesday in upper districts, including Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Abbottabad, and Parachinar.

Hot and dry weather will prevail across most parts of Sindh and Balochistan on both days. Dust-laden winds are likely in coastal areas. On Wednesday, intense heat is forecast in upper and central Sindh and central Balochistan.

Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan

Kashmir is expected to witness partly cloudy weather with chances of rain and thunderstorms at isolated locations on both Tuesday and Wednesday.

Gilgit-Baltistan is likely to experience partly cloudy but generally dry weather.

Weather During the Last 24 Hours

The Meteorological Department said most parts of the country experienced hot and dry weather during the past 24 hours. However, rain was recorded at isolated locations in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, upper and southern Punjab, northeastern Balochistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

The highest rainfall was recorded in Malam Jabba, a tourist destination in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where 55 millimeters of rain was measured. Other rainfall figures included 27 mm in Pashat (Bajaur), 14 mm in Khar, 14 mm in Dir, and 13 mm in Golra, Islamabad.
