Scorching heat in Sibi as temperature soars to 52°C

QUETTA: The heatwave continues to grip most parts of the country. In Sibi, temperatures soared to 52°C, while Dadu recorded 51°C.

Other cities also faced extreme heat: Sukkur 49°C, Multan and Peshawar 48°C, Lahore and Faisalabad 45°C, Islamabad 42°C, Quetta 41°C, Gilgit-Baltistan 40°C, and Karachi 36°C. Medical experts have advised citizens to take precautionary measures.

The intense heatwave is expected to persist until May 24.

In recent years, Balochistan—especially areas like Sibi, Turbat, and Dalbandin—has frequently recorded some of the country’s highest summer temperatures, often crossing the 50°C mark.

This extreme heat has caused health risks, water shortages, crop failures, and power outages.

Across the region, provinces like Sindh and South Punjab have also seen severe impacts, with Dadu, Jacobabad, and Bahawalpur regularly hitting critical heat thresholds.
