Government announces schools-closure for two days

GILGIT: All educational institutions in Skardu will remain closed for an additional 2 days.

According to the Skardu district administration, due to concerns over public safety and security threats, educational institutions will stay closed for a further 2 days.

Earlier, the Khyber district administration also announced the indefinite closure of government schools in the border areas of Landi Kotal tehsil.

The notification stated that the decision was made to ensure the safety of students and teachers, and a plan for resuming educational activities will be announced later.

In light of the current situation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, all schools in the border areas of North Waziristan have also been closed.

This measure was taken to guarantee the protection of students and school staff.

On the other hand, a special Apex Committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of the Caretaker Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan to review the overall security and administrative measures.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of forming a judicial commission to investigate the incidents.

The committee decided that those responsible for damaging public property will be brought to justice, the writ of the state will be upheld at all costs, and no compromise will be made on maintaining law and order or protecting government installations.
