ISLAMABAD: Several Pakistani national cricketers have reportedly been deprived of crores of rupees in invested capital due to an alleged fraud.
According to sources, a suspected fraud has occurred involving both former and current Pakistani cricketers.
The players have not filed any formal complaint regarding the alleged fraud on any platform, nor have they contacted the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to resolve the issue.
Sources indicate that the cricketers invested in a business venture following the lead of a former captain, with some current players, including names of past and present captains, also involved.
Certain cricketers made direct investments with the businessman.
Tempted by promises of exceptionally high returns, they handed over crores of rupees.
As per the sources, the cricketers initially received unusually high profits.
However, the businessman later disappeared from the scene.
The players made efforts to contact him for a few weeks, and some managed to recover a small portion of their money.
Sources further reveal that a well-known agent of the cricketers is also among those who lost money.
The alleged fraudster resides in the United States and had personal friendships with several Pakistani cricketers.
The affected players claim that his phone is now switched off, and they have not received any extraordinary profit payments for the past two months.
According to the sources, the cricketers want to recover their original invested amount, but they are unable to establish contact with the person accused of the fraud.
