RIYADH: The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has officially commenced nationwide celebrations marking its Foundation Day, transforming cities into vibrant displays of national pride and historical reflection.
In this sense, the towering skyscrapers and public landmarks have been illuminated in the Kingdom’s national colors, creating a striking night skyline. Similar scenes are unfolding across major urban centers, where festive slogans echo through streets and public squares.
The foundation was laid in 1744 by Imam Muhammad bin Saud, marking a defining chapter in the region’s history. The annual observance serves not only as a celebration but also as a reminder of the Kingdom’s deep-rooted heritage and the enduring vision that shaped its early beginnings.
The decision to formally recognize Foundation Day as a national occasion was approved in 2022 by King Salman bin Abdulaziz. Since then, the day has been observed as an official public holiday, enabling citizens to actively participate in commemorative events organized throughout the country.
In this regard, the cultural programs, traditional performances, public gatherings, and musical evenings are being held in various cities.
The events, carefully curated to highlight the Kingdom’s cultural richness, are expected to continue over the coming days with a series of special presentations and public engagements.
