Saudi Arabia warns Iran of direct response amid rising Middle East tensions

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has issued a direct warning to Iran for the first time amid rising tensions in the Middle East, stating that it will not remain silent if the Kingdom or its energy infrastructure is targeted.

Saudi officials have conveyed a clear message to Tehran that Riyadh still prefers a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing dispute between Iran and the United States.

However, the Kingdom has focused on that any attack on its security or oil facilities would not be tolerated.

The situation could change if attacks continue in the region. Saudi Arabia is reportedly considering the possibility of allowing American forces to use its military bases if regional security deteriorates further.

The warning comes at a time when geopolitical tensions across the Middle East remain high following recent military developments.

Meanwhile, Iranian officials have maintained that their actions are not directed at Gulf states but rather at American interests and military targets in the region.

Tehran has repeatedly called for the closure of US military bases across the Middle East, arguing that their presence contributes to regional instability.

The report also states that since the military operations launched against Iran on February 28 by the United States and Israel, Saudi Arabia has remained in continuous contact with Tehran through diplomatic channels.
