RIYADH: Saudi Arabia has announced a firm deadline for Umrah pilgrims to leave the country, directing all visa holders to depart by April 18.
The ministry focused on that pilgrims currently in the Kingdom on Umrah visas must ensure their departure before their visas expire.
The ministry warned that failure to adhere to the directive would result in strict penalties. These may include fines, detention, and other legal actions in accordance with Saudi law.
The move comes as part of Saudi Arabia’s ongoing campaign to address and prevent illegal residency within the Kingdom.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah reiterated that Umrah visas are issued for specific durations and purposes, and overstaying these visas constitutes a violation of national regulations.
The ministry also called on Umrah service providers and travel agencies to educate pilgrims about compliance requirements and assist them in adhering to departure schedules.
This development follows increased attention to regulatory enforcement as Saudi Arabia prepares for upcoming religious events, including the Hajj season. Ensuring that pilgrims depart on time is seen as a key step in facilitating the smooth arrival and management of new visitors.
