Pakistani cricketer Asif Ali, known for his powerful hitting, has announced his retirement from all international cricket. He made this announcement on September 1st.
In a message, Asif Ali thanked his fans, fellow players, and coaches for their support throughout his career. He also gave special thanks to his family and friends who stood by him during difficult times, especially when his daughter passed away during a World Cup. He said their strength gave him the courage to keep playing.
While he is retiring from the Pakistan team, Asif Ali confirmed that he will continue to play domestic cricket in Pakistan and in various leagues around the world.
Following his announcement, several teammates shared their good wishes. Vice-captain Shadab Khan posted a message saying, “Congratulations on your retirement, I wish you all the best for the next journey of life.” Former captain Sarfaraz Ahmed also wrote, “Congratulations on your brilliant career, Asif, may your future life be very successful.”
Asif Ali played for Pakistan in 21 One-Day International (ODI) matches and 58 Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. His last game for the national team was in 2023.
