Gaddafi’s son Saif ul Islam killed in Lybia

ISLAMABAD: The son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, was killed in an assassination.

This was reported by the Saudi television channel “Al-Hadath” citing a family source, who noted that four assassins were involved in the killing.

The Qatari television station “Al Jazeera” reported that “his death occurred under mysterious circumstances.”

Saif al-Islam Gaddafi was a Libyan political figure and the second son of former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi. Born on June 25, 1972,

he was educated in Libya and the United Kingdom and once held a prominent public role during his father’s rule.

Before the 2011 Libyan uprising, Saif al-Islam was often seen as a reform-minded face of the regime, speaking about political reforms and engagement with the West.

However, during the uprising he strongly defended the Gaddafi government, which led to international backlash.

After the fall of the Gaddafi regime, he was captured in 2011 and later faced war crimes charges by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Although Libya announced his release under an amnesty law in 2017, his legal status remains disputed internationally.

In recent years, Saif al-Islam has attempted a political comeback, including expressing interest in Libya’s presidential elections, making him a controversial and polarizing figure in Libya’s ongoing political crisis.
