Russia and UAE vow to intensify UN efforts to stop Iran attacks

MOSCOW:  Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Emirati counterpart, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, have called for an immediate de-escalation of tensions in the Middle East, specifically urging a halt to attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in the Gulf region and Iran.

 

During a telephone conversation, the two top diplomats stressed the urgent need to reduce hostilities. According to a statement released by the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov and Sheikh Abdullah agreed on the importance of stopping all strikes on civilian facilities to prevent further suffering and regional destabilization.

 

The ministers also committed to pursuing a diplomatic resolution to the ongoing crisis. They agreed to intensify efforts at the United Nations and other international forums to push for a negotiated settlement. The statement indicated that this coordinated diplomatic push is aimed at creating the conditions necessary to “end the US and Israeli attacks on Iran .”
