Russia claims Middle East crisis exposes weaknesses of NATO, EU, and UK

t, Russia has followed Iran's lead and offered to mediate escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan, highlighting international concern over regional stability.

MOSCOW :  Russia has asserted that the ongoing Middle East conflict, particularly the crisis involving Iran, has laid bare the strategic weaknesses and internal divisions within NATO, the European Union, and the United Kingdom, according to a senior Russian official.

Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s special presidential envoy and CEO of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), made the remarks in a post on the social media platform X.

“The Iranian crisis has exposed the serious weaknesses of NATO, the UK and the EU and their differences with the US,” Dmitriev wrote, without elaborating on specific incidents or evidence.

The statement comes amid heightened tensions in the Middle East, where Iran has been engaged in direct confrontations with Israel and Western allies. Dmitriev’s comments align with the Kremlin’s broader narrative that Western alliances are fractured and declining in influence.

Neither NATO, the EU, nor the UK government has issued an immediate response to the claim. Analysts note that Russia has consistently sought to portray Western powers as disunited, particularly as the U.S. has at times taken more independent stances on regional security issues.
