Rubio, PM Shehbaz hold talks on strategic ries, minerals, and terrorism

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio held a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar in Washington DC.

 

Following the talks, Secretary Rubio took to social media to share a picture from the meeting and provide details of their discussion. He stated that the conversation focused on strategic relations between the two nations, as well as cooperation on critical minerals, development, and counter-terrorism issues.

 

The US Secretary of State also expressed his appreciation for Pakistan’s support for the Gaza peace plan and acknowledged the country’s participation in the Board of Peace established by the US President.

Meanwhile

US President Donald Trump has once again praised Pakistan’s Prime Minister and Field Marshal Asim Munir.

Addressing the Gaza Peace Board meeting, President Trump said he greatly admires Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

He also openly praised Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal General Asim Munir, describing him as “a great person,” “an outstanding military leader,” and “a tremendous fighter.”

Trump stated that wars raging for 37 years have been stopped for the sake of peace.

He added that some people were not initially wanted to be included in the Peace Board.

Referring to the intense conflict between Pakistan and India, he said the United States played a key role in halting that war. He mentioned that 11 aircraft were shot down during the Pakistan-India conflict.

The US President noted that the Gaza Peace Board comprises heads of state from various countries.
