Reko Diq journalistic visit: A step toward transparency & local development

CHAGAI: The group of national and regional journalists was invited to the Reko Diq mining site this week for an extensive tour and open dialogue session with project management and local community representatives.

The visit, organized under the framework of transparency and inclusive progress, shed light on the region’s future and the pivotal role of the local population in the multibillion-dollar copper and gold mining project.

During the visit, journalists engaged in detailed discussions with company officials on pressing community matters including employment opportunities, health services, education access, and vocational training.

In this sense, project officials assured that the local youth of Chagai will be prioritized in upcoming technical training initiatives and scholarship programs.

This open-door initiative is seen by many as a refreshing change in how mega-projects interact with host communities.

However, Balochistan continues to emerge as an economic frontier of Pakistan, the Reko Diq visit signals a hopeful future one where natural wealth is harnessed not just for national prosperity, but for meaningful, inclusive development at the grassroots level.
