QUETTA: Exiled Baloch leader Hyrbyair Marri was left speechless when a young Baloch questioned him over the flag used by the designated terrorist group, the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA).
A video on social media shows the youth challenging Marri. He asked how the BLA could call its flag the national flag of Balochistan. “How can we call it a national flag?” the youth asked. “The BLA says to accept it. Why? If you form a cabinet tomorrow, should we call it a national cabinet too? Should we treat every action of yours as a national act?”
He added, “I don’t consider the BLA flag to be a national flag.”
Marri struggled to respond. “If the BLA made the flag and people reject it, that’s disappointing,” he said. “The BLA also created other terrorist groups like the BLF and BRA.”
Justifying his argument with no logic, he said that the BLA played a central role in forming these groups. So they should accept the flag.
The youth repeated his question: “Who made this flag?” Marri gave no clear answer. He said, “We were told to support it. We accepted it as the Balochistan flag. I don’t know who made it, I have no information about its origin, but we were instructed to adopt it.”
The exchange of arguments exposed that the BLA flag has no link to Balochistan’s history or identity.
Notably, Marang Baloch has been seen placing the BLA flag on his father’s grave several times.
Hyrbyair Marri leads the Balochistan Liberation Army, which Pakistan officially designates as a terrorist group. The Indian agency RAW is funding and supporting the BLA.
Last week, security forces had arrested a RAW agent Ashok Chaturvedi near the Pak-Iran border, who was funding terrorism and terror groups via cryptocurrency in Balochistan.
