QUETTA: Senior politician and former Senator Nawabzada Haji Mir Lashkari Khan Raisani has issued a stark message to the citizens of Quetta, urging them to elect trustworthy and responsible representatives in the upcoming local government elections to rescue the city from its multifaceted crises.
In a powerful statement, Raisani expressed deep concerns about the transparency of the impending polls but emphasized that despite these doubts, it is the collective responsibility of every citizen to make an informed choice for the city’s future. He called for a decisive break from the past by holding previous representatives accountable.
Raisani launched a sharp critique against those who have “continuously imposed themselves on Quetta city” under the previous local government systems. He accused them of misusing their power by allocating government properties, footpaths, and roads for their own benefit, thereby plundering the city’s resources instead of serving the public.
“Little London is now the centre of crises,” Raisani lamented, nostalgically referring to Quetta’s past glory and contrasting it with its current troubled state. He stated that the present conditions of the city are a direct reflection of its citizens’ past choices.
To reverse this decline, the former senator appealed for the selection of candidates who are deeply aware of civic principles, live with integrity, and possess unwavering sincerity towards Quetta. He implored every voter to rise above personal interests and think individually about the city’s future. The goal, he concluded, should be to elect representatives who can transform Quetta into a respectable, clean, and transparent city, free from crime and injustice, allowing its citizens to live with dignity.
Meanwhile the Chief Secretary Balochistan, Shakeel Qadir Khan, has stated that the Quetta Development Package (QDP) is playing a pivotal role in enhancing the quality of life for the city’s residents. He emphasized that the package’s projects are crucial for providing easier access to basic amenities, education, healthcare, employment opportunities, and essential social services.
