Rain with strong winds and thunderstorms predicted in various parts of the country

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms in various parts of the country over the next 24 hours, offering the possibility of relief from the prevailing hot weather conditions in several regions.

In this regard, the light rainfall is expected in Peshawar and most plain districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the forecast period. Weather officials stated that rain is also likely in upper districts, including Swat, Chitral, Dir, and surrounding areas.

Moreover, the Meteorological Department further indicated that isolated rain and hailstorm activity may occur in some upper parts of the country. Meanwhile, hot weather conditions are expected to persist across southern Punjab, Sindh, and Balochistan, where temperatures are likely to remain above seasonal averages.

Rainfall is also forecast for Azad Jammu and Kashmir as well as northeastern Punjab. In the Potohar region, strong winds and thunderstorms are expected at a few locations, with the possibility of hailstorms in certain areas.

The expected precipitation is likely to reduce the intensity of the ongoing heat and provide temporary relief to residents facing high temperatures in recent days.

In a related development, a reduction in public transport fares has also been announced. Although the details of the fare adjustment were not immediately linked to the weather forecast, the announcement comes as authorities continue efforts to provide relief to the public amid changing economic and environmental conditions.

The Meteorological Department has urged relevant authorities to closely monitor the evolving weather situation and take necessary precautionary measures where required.
