Rain to lash Balochistan from Monday

Rain forecasted in southern parts of country

QUETTA: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast a new spell of rain in Balochistan starting Monday, March 9, which is expected to bring relief from the ongoing dry spell and lower temperatures across the province.

According to the Met Office, a new weather system is likely to enter the province from the west on Monday. The system will affect most parts of Balochistan, with thundershowers predicted in more than half of the region’s areas. Officials have stated that some places may also experience strong winds accompanied by rain.

The provincial capital, Quetta, is expected to receive intermittent rain on March 10 and 11. This precipitation is likely to reverse the recent trend of rising mercury, making the weather cold once again. Meteorologists have confirmed that temperatures will drop following the rains.

In light of the forecast, the Meteorological Department has advised citizens not to pack away their warm clothes just yet, as the weather is set to turn chilly.

The Met Department has termed the forecasted rains a “good omen” and a blessing for the province, expressing hope that the precipitation will significantly reduce the risk of drought conditions that have been a concern for the region.
