Rain halts PSL clash between Quetta Gladiators and Lahore Qalandars

Lahore: The third fixture of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) Season 10 between Lahore Qalandars and Quetta Gladiators was disrupted by heavy rain, halting play with Lahore at 111 for 3.

After winning the toss, Quetta Gladiators chose to field first. Lahore faced an early setback when opener Fakhar Zaman was dismissed for a duck by Khurram Shehzad.

However, the innings recovered through an impressive 102-run stand between Mohammad Naeem and Abdullah Shafique.

Naeem delivered an explosive 50 off just 30 balls, striking six fours and three sixes before being caught off Abrar Ahmed’s bowling.

Daryl Mitchell could only add 3 runs to the total before falling to Abrar as well.

Shafique remained unbeaten on a well-compiled 53 from 32 deliveries, including three sixes and as many boundaries, before the match was suspended due to persistent rain.

Lahore Qalandars currently sit second on the PSL 10 points table with 8 points from 4 matches, narrowly ahead of Quetta Gladiators who also have 8 points but trail on Net Run Rate.

Earlier in the day, Karachi Kings secured a commanding 87-run victory over Multan Sultans, knocking them out of the playoff race. Batting first, Karachi posted a formidable 204/4.

James Vince led the charge with a 65-run knock off 45 balls, while Irfan Khan Niazi added 40 from 33 deliveries. Khushdil Shah chipped in with a blistering 33 off just 13 balls.

In response, Multan struggled to build partnerships, collapsing for just 117 in the 17th over. Kamran Ghulam (29) and Yasir Khan (26) were the only notable contributors as the rest of the batting lineup faltered under pressure.

With this result, Multan Sultans are officially out of contention for the PSL 10 playoffs.
