QUETTA: After a prolonged heatwave across upper, central, and southern regions of the country, including Balochistan, the Meteorological Department has finally brought good news of rain. According to the department, heavy winds accompanied by rainfall are expected in several cities of Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, Musakhel, and Sibi.
This forecast is expected to bring relief to residents suffering from extreme heat. In Sibi, where temperatures had soared to a scorching 53°C in recent days, the prediction of rain and gusty winds has lifted hopes.
Rain is also expected in Bolan, Kohlu, Barkhan, Khuzdar, Awaran, Loralai, and Lasbela. From May 27 to May 31, scattered rain and strong winds are forecasted across the upper and central parts of the country, including districts of southern Punjab and Balochistan.
The Meteorological Department further predicted widespread heavy rain in many areas, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, and Sargodha. Rain and winds are also expected in Attock, Chakwal, Khushab, Mianwali, Jhelum, Hafizabad, Gujranwala, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Sialkot, Narowal, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, and Sheikhupura.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, rain is likely in Waziristan and Bannu, with gusty winds forecasted in Kurram, Karak, Kohat, Lakki Marwat, Peshawar, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Dir, and Chitral. Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Haripur may also see rain and strong winds, with possible hailstorms in some areas.

Coastal areas of Sindh may experience strong winds as well. The Meteorological Department has warned that wind, rain, and hail could damage solar panels, trees, and power lines, urging travelers and tourists to take precautions during the rough weather.
