Electric scooters distributed among top students in Quetta

QUETTA: Electric scooters were distributed among top-performing students during a ceremony held under the Prime Minister’s PAVE (Pakistan Vision for Education) program in Quetta on Saturday.

The event was attended by Provincial Health Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar, Advisor on Sports Meena Majeed Baloch, Chairman of the Balochistan Board Muhammad Ishaq, and Deputy Director Shamsullah Khan.

Speaking at the occasion, Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar lauded the students for continuing their education despite difficult circumstances. He said the government had reactivated inactive schools and ensured strict attendance monitoring for absentee teachers.

He added that concrete measures were being implemented to curb cheating in examinations. “Restoring merit in the education sector is the key to progress,” he emphasized.

Kakar further revealed that 17,000 Balochistan students are currently studying in other provinces under the Balochistan Education Endowment Fund (BEEF) program. He said opportunities were also being created for students from Balochistan to pursue education at the world’s top 200 universities.

Addressing the ceremony, Advisor Meena Majeed Baloch said the distribution of scooters represented the Prime Minister’s tribute to the hardworking youth of Balochistan. “Education is the foundation of development,” she remarked.

She also highlighted the importance of parental guidance in ensuring children’s success and praised the government’s recent recruitment of 16,000 teachers as a milestone achievement.

Meena Baloch said that over 3,100 schools have been made functional, and reforms are underway to further improve the quality of public education in the province.
