QUETTA: Quetta police conducted 80 intelligence-based operations over the past six weeks, arresting dozens of suspects linked to murders, robberies and vehicle theft networks, officials said.

DIG Police Imran Shoukat and SSP Serious Crime Investigation Wing Imran Qureshi shared the details during a press conference at Police Lines.

Police said they dismantled a major interprovincial vehicle theft gang operating between Sindh and Balochistan. They arrested four members of the network and recovered 20 stolen vehicles.

The Serious Crime Investigation Wing also solved five blind murder cases. Officers made arrests in multiple robbery incidents and recovered cash, weapons, mobile phones, narcotics and other stolen goods.

In total, police arrested 12 suspects in murder, theft and robbery cases. Among them were three people accused of killing Imad Kakar — a woman identified as Atiya Rehman, and two men, Roman Ilyas and Babar Ali. Police sealed the shop that sold the unlicensed murder weapon.

DIG Shoukat said police arrested two suspects, Abdullah and Ibrahim, for looting more than Rs20 million from a warehouse in Sariab after taking a security guard hostage. Officers recovered more than 80 percent of the stolen items.

Police also arrested Fayyaz Ali, Sabir Ali and Muhammad Salman in a separate house robbery case and recovered over Rs7 million in gold, valuables and cash. In another case, officers arrested Najibullah, Janan and Rahmatullah for snatching Rs11.8 million, which was also recovered.

Officials said all suspects have been booked and legal proceedings are under way.

DIG Shoukat warned that illegal activities — including drug trafficking and smuggling of Iranian petrol — are fueling terrorism. He ordered SHOs to crack down on all unlawful practices and warned that negligent officers would face suspension.
