QUETTA: Quetta Police have made a significant breakthrough in a major robbery case, arresting three suspects, including a serving officer of the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD), and recovering over Rs 19 million—an amount far exceeding the stolen sum.
The robbery, which saw Rs 11.5 million looted from a prominent business center two months ago, was solved following an intensive investigation. Among those arrested is Inspector Nazgib Khokhar, who was posted in the Special Operations Wing of the CTD. The arrests were carried out on Monday after police gathered concrete evidence against the suspects.
A senior Balochistan Police officer, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed the inspector’s involvement and arrest. “Inspector of the Anti-Terrorism Force, Nazgib Khokhar, was arrested after receiving evidence,” the officer stated. The recovery of Rs 19 million from the accused raises serious questions, suggesting the possibility of the group’s involvement in other criminal activities or the misuse of official power for extortion.
This incident has sent shockwaves through law enforcement circles, highlighting alarming misconduct within a specialized security agency. The arrest of a CTD officer in a serious criminal case is expected to prompt an internal inquiry and review of personnel. Police officials have indicated that further investigations are ongoing to unravel the full scope of the suspects’ operations and to determine if they were part of a larger criminal network.
