QUETTA: Quetta has reached a historic milestone in sports development by hosting Pakistan’s first international football training camp.
The camp will run from January 26 to February 6. It is being organized jointly by the Balochistan government and DHA Quetta.
A six-member elite coaching team from the Steven Gerrard Football Club in Liverpool, the United Kingdom, has arrived in Quetta to lead the program.
The two-week camp will provide modern and professional training to local players. Foreign coaches will focus on advanced football techniques, physical fitness, and professional game skills.
Under the program, 63 footballers, including 12 women players, will receive international-standard training.
The coaching team will conduct structured and professional sessions aimed at raising young players’ technical and professional abilities to global standards.
Officials said the initiative promotes positive youth engagement, inclusion in sports, and the development of international-level sports infrastructure in Balochistan.
Sports experts said the camp would strengthen football development and help build a sustainable sports system in the province.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti said sports grounds in the province were coming back to life due to the government’s focused efforts.
He said modern training sessions would boost players’ confidence, morale, and professional skills.
The chief minister said the provincial government was making strong investments to promote sports and nurture young talent.

He added that providing national and international opportunities to Balochistan’s athletes remained a key government priority to project a positive image of the province and encourage healthy activities among youth.
