Quetta blast: Balochistan CM cancels Lahore visit

QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti cancelled his scheduled visit to Lahore and returned from the airport on Tuesday night after the deadly bombing outside Shahwani Stadium in Quetta. He immediately reached the Chief Minister’s Secretariat and began monitoring the situation.

The chief minister received continuous briefings on the blast, the condition of the injured, and the measures taken for their treatment. He directed Inspector General of Police Balochistan to conduct a thorough investigation and submit a report without delay.

Bugti also instructed Provincial Health Minister Bakhth Muhammad Kakar, the provincial health secretary, and other senior officials to personally supervise the situation at hospitals. He ordered the Civil and Military Hospital (CMH) to ensure all necessary arrangements for the injured. Authorities later shifted six wounded individuals to CMH for advanced treatment.

The chief minister further directed officials to strengthen security at hospitals and other sensitive sites across Quetta. He personally reviewed the situation late into the night, receiving updates from the provincial health minister on the medical facilities and treatment provided to the victims.
