QUETTA: The district administration of Quetta has accelerated its ongoing operations against artificial price hikes, illegal encroachments, and the use of banned plastic bags across various parts of the city
In this sense, the inspections were carried out in different areas of Subdivisions City, Kuchlak, and Sariab.
In addition, a total of 85 shops and markets were inspected. The government took 18 individuals into custody, out of which 10 were sent to jail for violating regulations.
So far, two shops were sealed, and 12 shopkeepers were fined for overpricing and other violations.
Furthermore, the part of the environmental protection drive, the administration also seized 270 kilograms of banned plastic bags from different commercial locations.
The crackdown aims to discourage the use of non-biodegradable materials that contribute to environmental pollution in the city.
The operations were conducted under the supervision of Special Magistrates Dr. Imran Zeb in Subdivision City, Ehsamuddin Kakar in Subdivision Kuchlak, and Izzatullah in Subdivision Sariab.
The government representatives further stated that the crackdown against violators will continue without discrimination.

The administration has also appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the authorities by reporting instances of overpricing, illegal encroachments, and the sale of plastic bags.
