Seasonal factors—such as reduced traffic at night and long stretches without police checkpoints—have at times worsened the risk.

These incidents not only endanger lives but also disrupt trade and erode public confidence in road travel.

Addressing the problem requires a layered approach. Enhanced highway patrolling by Levies and police, combined with well-lit, regularly spaced checkpoints, can deter ambushes.

Intelligence sharing among provincial police, Frontier Corps, and local communities is crucial for tracking criminal networks.

Installing CCTV cameras and automatic number-plate recognition at key junctions would help identify suspects and stolen vehicles.

Community-based initiatives—such as traveler helplines and rapid-response units—can provide timely assistance, while stricter penalties and fast-track prosecution of highway robbers would reinforce deterrence.
