MOSCOW/RIYADH :  Russia has declared its readiness to play an active role in resolving the escalating conflicts in the Middle East, including the war over Iran, the Kremlin confirmed on Thursday.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that President Vladimir Putin is in constant contact with various regional leaders as part of these diplomatic efforts. He emphasized that Moscow is prepared to contribute immediately if its services are required.

“President Putin is continuing these contacts,” Peskov said. “If our services are needed in any way, we are certainly ready to contribute to ensuring that the military situation moves towards a peaceful path as soon as possible.”

Peskov’s remarks came shortly after US President Donald Trump addressed the nation regarding the Iran war and signaled Washington’s potential consideration of withdrawing from NATO. In response, the Russian spokesman reaffirmed Moscow’s stance, stating that Russia views the transatlantic military alliance as “hostile.”

Putin, Saudi Crown Prince Urge Diplomatic Efforts

Separately, the Kremlin confirmed that President Putin held a telephone conversation with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to address the ongoing war in the region.

According to a report by the foreign news agency AFP, the two leaders called for effective political and diplomatic efforts to bring an end to the hostilities. Both sides stressed the need for coordinated international action to prevent further escalation and stabilize the situation in the Middle East.

The Kremlin noted that the conversation highlighted a shared interest in de-escalation, though no specific details of a joint plan were released. The call underscores Russia’s attempt to position itself as a key mediator amid rising tensions involving Iran and shifting US foreign policy signals.
